About Me

My photo
I am a person who loves people, and I try to draw inspiration and find the beauty in everything. I am motivated and passionate about the things I do. I have wonderful people in my life. I have lots of ideas that I don't always know how to make a reality. But that's alright- life's a start.

Halloween decor

I have been having so much fun decorating my new home for Halloween! It's my favorite holiday, and I've been decking out almost every room with cobwebs, pumpkins, and black roses. Here's just a few photos of some of the decorated areas.

DIY Chair Makeover

I recently gave my atrium chairs a makeover. Take a look!

I started out with a simple (aka boring) chair:

Then I used a homemade chalk paint to give it a new pop of color:

The cushion had just been a hard wicker pad, so I covered it with some batting and a cute fabric (bought here

and TA-DA! Adorable.

Black and White Stripes

I'm a little obsessed these days with black and white stripes in fashion. I own a few of my own tops and dresses with black and white stripes, but I would love to add all of these into my wardrobe!

Jewelry Organized!

A while back I posted about how I planned to display and organize all my jewelry. It turns out I have a LOT of accessories! Here's how I went about putting them all together.

Happy New Year!

Well my friends, 2012 was definitely a crazy year, filled with many ups and downs. Among the hilights and best parts of the year were the following:

I completed my first full year at the school where I teach (I wish I could insert pictures of my little darlings, but you know, legalities....)

shared in many friends' weddings

 directed a great vocal ensemble

starred in a theatre show

and bought a house!

For the lows, which need not be shown through pictures, I also got in a car accident, developed a small vocal node (a vocalist's worst nightmare), resigned from my church conducting job that I really enjoyed, and developed (but recovered from) a small cyst on my wrist from overuse.

Overall, I am counting my blessings more than the other crap from the year, because it was a great one.
I am very excited to see what 2013 will bring to the table. I feel like 2012 was like the start of a new book for me, and this next year will be the plot and character development that unfolds.

Happy New Year to you all!
